Safety of Water Supply


Not affecting water quality is an important indicator for valve selection. The parts of the valve that are in direct contact with water are mainly the inside of the valve body, the sealing part, the valve plate, etc. At present, the sealing part of the valve produced by many manufacturers uses rubber materials. Commonly used rubber materials are nitrile rubber (NBR), neoprene (CR) or ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM). These rubbers are synthetic rubbers. In the synthesis process, more than ten kinds of raw materials and additives such as anti-aging agents are added to the natural rubber. Whether the final synthetic rubber can be used for the sealing of water supply valves depends on whether the rubber is non-toxic and meets drinking water hygiene standards. As for the inside of the valve and the valve plate and other parts, many manufacturers used painting methods in the past, only considering the problem of rust prevention, not whether it is toxic. In practice, we found that: in the water supply pipe network, the problem of anti-corrosion of the lining of the pipe has been solved, but the pipe network valve has no lining, due to the erosion and deposition of the valve cavity and valve plate due to the precipitation phenomenon of water and the iron bacteria in the water, Causes a hilly accumulation phenomenon on the inner wall of some valves. It not only affects the water quality of the water supply, but also is one of the main reasons why some valves are not tightly closed. Therefore, we require that these parts in direct contact with water should be sprayed with non-toxic paint, preferably by electrostatic spraying method to spray non-toxic epoxy powder. When we choose a valve, we should first check whether it has the non-toxic certificate and inspection certificate of rubber and paint. Only the valve with the above conditions can ensure that the water quality is not polluted and the safety of the water supply is guaranteed.


Advancement of Technology


Valve production technology continues to develop, from old-fashioned gate valve to soft-sealed gate valve, from the original butterfly valve to wafer butterfly valve, single-eccentric, double-eccentric flanged butterfly valve, hard-sealed butterfly valve, from traditional single-head exhaust valve to High-speed dual-port exhaust valve, etc. Therefore, the advanced nature of the selected valve should also be considered when selecting the valve. However, in the application of new technologies, we are opposed to the practice of indiscriminate, ignorant of users' actual situation, and rushing to the top. Instead, we should combine new technologies, new processes and users' needs. A good valve is obtained from the direct needs of users in practical production applications. For example: the resin extrusion sealing method, although it does have advantages from design ideas and factory trials. However, in actual use, due to resin materials, extruding resin tools, etc., the problem of how users can use it has not been solved. When users use this kind of valve, they cannot realize the advanced nature, characteristics and advantages of this kind of valve, but use it as an ordinary butterfly valve. Therefore, valve production should not only pay attention to its advanced nature, but also pay attention to its practicality. And pay attention to solving problems in practical applications, such as: the research on the exhaust effect and service life of the floating ball material of the exhaust valve and the shape of the floating ball (spherical or cylindrical). How to prevent the problem of operation control (over-closing) of the worm gear butterfly valve, the problem of the top of the gearbox casing, the problem of the marking of the switch indication, etc. Therefore, when choosing a valve, we must pay attention to its technological advancement and practicability.

Water Tightness


Whether the valve plays a sealing role is the basic requirement for the valve. In practical applications, there are many types of seals, such as soft seals, hard seals, valve plate seals, valve body seals, face seals, line seals and so on. No matter what kind of sealing form is adopted, the sealing effect cannot be affected. In the past, we have used a part of the butterfly valve sealed by the valve plate. In theory, the biggest advantage of this kind of butterfly valve is that once the sealing rubber ring fails, it can be replaced online without disassembling and assembling the valve. However, in the practical application of water supply enterprises, the advantages of this kind of butterfly valve are difficult to reflect. Therefore, if the rubber ring is replaced online, it is not only necessary to disassemble the pipes at both ends of the valve and drain the water in the pipes. At the same time, the sealing test of the replaced rubber ring cannot be carried out, and the replacement effect cannot be determined. Therefore, when choosing a valve, we must pay attention to the sealing form of the valve, and check the sealing effect of the valve in combination with their actual application.


The Authenticity of the Test


The manufacturer of the valve must be required to provide a true and accurate inspection report. These inspection reports include:


Inspection of raw materials - the content of C, Si, Mn, P, S and other components in raw iron and the quality of coke, etc.;


Inspection of castings - metallographic test, elongation test, strength test, etc.;

Sealing test - double-sided pump pressure test and multiple switch test, etc.;

Health and quarantine reports for rubber and health and quarantine reports for coatings. Products produced by companies that provide false inspection reports cannot be used.
